GCSE Contingency Days

Students taking GCSEs this year must be available from the date of their first exam up to and including Wednesday 24 June 2026. The awarding bodies have designated the morning and afternoon sessions of this date as ‘contingency sessions’ for GCSE examinations. This is in case one of their exams has to be rearranged because of major regional or national disruption. A contingency date is set in the event the exam board has to make an essential change to the exam timetable that cannot be accommodated earlier. However, a postponed exam could be arranged for any day in the exam period. This is not a school decision and applies to all students in all schools nationally. Families should therefore refrain from booking holidays until after this date.
