Welcome from the Headteacher

I am very proud to welcome you to The Forest School. We see our school
as the centre of a family which includes students, parents and staff.

We therefore believe that our school is very special – a happy and safe environment in which our students can learn, grow and develop into confident and successful global citizens. Forest has an excellent reputation for educating young adults. Our students benefit from learning in an enriching environment where there are no stereotypes.  It is our mission to deliver the highest possible standards across all areas of school life and as a result we are confident that our young people will reach and exceed their potential during the time they spend with us.

Whilst our results speak for themselves, The Forest School is so much more. It’s the aspirational drive to be the best we can be – both students and staff; it’s the opportunities to challenge ourselves – in our learning, our understanding of our world, in our thinking and our actions. It’s the range of sporting, musical and expressive activities on offer; it’s the level of engagement in the school community shown by our students; it’s the caring and nurturing environment that allows each individual to flourish and grow.

As the 21st century progresses, it is becoming increasingly more evident that knowledge is only one component of success and so at Forest; lessons go far beyond the narrow confines of the exam syllabus, to instil in all students a passion for the subject and a life-long love of learning. Our stimulating curriculum is supported and enriched by a vibrant cross-curricular programme of activities in which everyone has the opportunity to take part before, during and after school. Many of these activities are made possible by the abundance of outdoor and indoor space we have, the benefits of which are not just practical and logistical. Our personalised learning and creative approach to the curriculum encourages students to do their best. This is driven by our passionate team of teaching and support staff who place great emphasis on ensuring our students' needs are met, that their abilities are understood and their aspirations are encouraged.

The Forest School values each individual student as unique and special. We believe we offer something for everyone, whatever their ability, whatever their interests. We want each of our students to leave the school well qualified and well prepared for the next stage of their education. We aim to equip all students with the range of skills to succeed in the ever-changing modern world. Leadership, problem solving, confidence, resilience, empathy, respectfulness, communication; these are just some of the skills and qualities that all students will have developed in their time with us. Most importantly, we want our students to look back at their time at Forest with pleasure and pride.

As a parent, you have a big role to play in ensuring that Forest remains a successful school. We want you to be an active member of our Forest Family and are looking forward to showing you how you can play your part in ensuring our school and more importantly, your child, goes from strength to strength.
