Salters Chemistry Festival
A team from The Forest School represented the school for the first time at The Salters Chemistry Festival at the University of Brighton this week, accompanied by Mrs Brown and Dr Waters. Salters’ Festivals are a series of one-day fun events held at universities which provide the opportunity for enthusiastic young students to take part in practical, fun chemistry activities. Jay Patel, Jack Green, George Ingram and Matthew England were the four year 8 pupils selected to be on the team. They had to work together in two different experimental challenges - one of which was to solve a crime. Their scientific skills were excellent and their behaviour was impeccable, however unfortunately we did not win (this time!). In the afternoon, the University hosted an amazing Chemical 'Magic' Demonstration full of loud explosions. Mrs Brown was even used as a 'volunteer' to have a liquid nitrogen shower! We all had a really enjoyable day and really appreciated the huge effort made by both Salters' and the University of Brighton.
