Year 9 Football Team Win the County Cup Final

On Thursday 11 May, the Year 9 football team played in the County Cup Final against Causeway Academy. It was a very entertaining match with many spectators watching. Forest put on an excellent first half display in front of the crowd creating a couple of excellent goals by Jayden Neal and Jay Popham. The first half ended 2-0 with Forest in a strong position and looking the stronger of the two sides.

In the second half, Causeway started a lot brighter and gave Forest problems. Forest stayed resilient and weathered everything Causeway threw at them. Forest started to regain dominance especially after Jay scored a thunderbolt into the top right hand corner. Forest continued to mount an impressive second wind creating another 2 goals from Faris Khan.

Man of the Match was awarded to Jay Popham who produced his performance of the season. Mr Warner and Mr Wickham were quoted ‘we are really proud of this group of players, they have worked extremely hard and to be the best in the County is excellent. This is something they will never forget. To play against such a high quality opponent who were previously very successful in the National Cup just goes to show how far this side have come and the ability they possess.’

This is the most successful year for football for the school football teams. Reaching the semi-finals of the National Cup, winners of the District Cup and also Winning the County Cup. A huge achievement for this group of boys!

We would like to thank all pupils, teachers and parents for the support, it made the day even more special for the boys involved.
