Today at the Careers Café we had an ex-Forest pupil, Joe Morris, come in to talk about his experience with the Voluntary Services Overseas (VOS). Joe recently spent three months volunteering in Nepal. To take part in this, Joe had to fund raise £800, which he achieved by completing the 24 hour 3 Peaks Challenge. His placement was in Sankhu Municipality of Nepal where he worked in a local community organising and conducting events on topics including Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), female sexual and reproductive health, waste management and youth employability. Joe also worked alongside community members to tackle local issues and created sustainable changes. The boys thoroughly enjoyed Joe's talk and were inspired to research into their own ways in which they could volunteer and make a difference.
